Empty seats in a car — for people going the same way
Попутчик (Poputnyk) is intercity ride sharing in Ukraine: drivers offer empty seats, and passengers find a trip or post a request with their own price.
Built for: Private drivers and passengers travelling between Ukrainian cities.
Value
Either a driver or a passenger can propose a trip, and one account works in both roles. The service is being built for the phone browser, with no app to install.
How it works
In Попутчик (Poputnyk) either side can propose a trip. A driver publishes an intercity route with empty seats, and a passenger either finds an existing trip or posts a request with a maximum price that drivers respond to. The service shows matches along the way, with the detour from the route in kilometres and minutes.
A seat is booked for the needed segment of the route and picked on a seat map. After the trip the driver and the passenger leave each other reviews, and driver and passenger ratings are kept separately. Today Poputnyk is a prototype: there is no public launch yet.
